NEED IT approached this project with no existing storefront and zero technical infrastructure. The goal was to deliver a fully functional, brand-ready Shopify store that could scale quickly and handle future marketing, content, and catalog expansion.
I led the entire digital build: backend structure (inventory, SKU system creation, shipping, checkouts, payment methods), product logic, pricing layout, automations for inventory updates, wholesale pricings and discounts; SEO metadata, custom theme tweaks, and a complete technical hand-off document for the client’s future operations.
From the start, the NEED IT project required building a Shopify store that felt simple, reliable, and ready to scale. The brand was starting from zero, so my approach focused on setting a strong foundation rather than layering flashy features on top of an unstable structure.
The first step was shaping the store’s architecture: collections, product types, navigation, and all the underlying metafields that control how content appears. I made sure every product followed a structured, Shopify-recognized format so the team could add new items without breaking the layout. This also meant creating clean, reusable components, especially for the pricing table and product form logic, so everything could be managed easily by non-technical users.
Once the backend was in place, I focused on theme customization in collaboration with UI/UX designer María Zambrano. She crafted the brand, defined the art direction of the project, and designed the visual system that was implemented throughout the store.
Alongside the design and code work, I integrated essential apps and configured all the operational pieces, shipping, tracking, analytics, and UX tools, without bogging the store down with unnecessary add-ons. Everything installed had a purpose and fit the long-term plan.
Then came the SEO and metadata layer. I wrote fully optimized meta titles and descriptions for the site, crafted Open Graph tags for clean link previews, and set up semantic structure across the pages. This gives NEED IT! a strong start in search visibility and ensures better performance in future SEO work.
Finally, I documented everything. The owners received a complete technical hand-off guide covering the store’s structure, theme changes, app setup, and daily operations. It also included a glossary for non-technical users and clear screenshot placeholders so they could follow every step. The goal was simple: hand them a store they could run confidently from day one.
This approach kept the project efficient, scalable, and user-friendly, exactly what NEED IT needed to launch fast and grow without friction.
